Training Workshop Content

This session focuses more specifically on the concepts and constructs of gender identity, and the diversity of ways in which gender can be expressed.

Basic principles such as the distinction between sex and gender will be established in order to effectively discuss both a range of gender minority identities such as being transgender, non-binary and gender fluid, and intersex identities. From there, there will be an exploration of what life is like for gender minorities both in the UK and around the world, what it means to transition and how gender identity can interact with sexual identities, which in turn will highlight the transphobia, stigma and discrimination that many gender minorities face.

Overall, this workshop aims to broaden the concept of gender in order to promote understanding and empathy to create a more inclusive environment for gender minority individuals, as well as encouraging us all to be free to express our gender in an authentic way.

IS THIS WORKSHOP SUITABLE FOR?

WHO

Though our other workshops cover the basics of sex and gender, this workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge about gender identities, whether they know a little or a lot.

There will be coverage of both basic principles and definitions alongside more up to date research about stigma and discrimination in the gender minority community, and will allow participants to tackle their own perceptions of gender and expression.

THIS WORKSHOP IS PERFECT FOR THOSE

WHO WANT TO LEARN MORE.
